The history of Overclocking in Denmark

Danish Overclocking

Ever wondered how Overclocking started in Denmark? Here’s how it all happened.

The oldest and largest Danish overclocking community known back then as Overclocking.dk (or simply referred to as OC.dk), which was launched by Henrik “HeO” Olsen in the spring of 2000. Or at least that was around the time I became aware of it and began to use the site regularly.

Originally I began overclocking in the early 1990s, albeit under a different handle than today.

Shortly thereafter Steen “TheBoss” Teglers launched Hardware-Test, which made hardware product reviews, and later that year merged with Overclocking.dk to create a new forum and a larger site shared between the two sub divisions. As an overclocker you could use the resources of Overclocking.dk while enthusiasts read and commented on Hardware-Test reviews.

It was around the same time, late 2001, when another Danish site, HardInfo, also began to look at overclocking with amongst other things an article on the Kryotech SuperG. At that day and age Tom Holck also made his name and got Denmark on the map when showing off his impressive AMD skills over at XtremeSystems. Around 2004 he was joined by SIOUX, another old school Danish overclocker, who also was quickly a recognized talent.

I often browsed XtremeSystems and other international overclocking sites quite regularly back then, but never found any of them interesting enough to register an account.

At present, the large double paged site Hardware-Test & Overclocking.dk is better known as HWT, the abbreviation of Hardware-Test. The website has undergone some major changes throughout the years, and while the reviews weren’t always up to my standards they somehow managed to keep me on as a regular user.

Around the end of 2006 the overclocking section of Hardware-Test had diminished enough for a small number of members from the original Overclocking.dk (including yours truly) were thinking about establishing an alternate page exclusively devoted to overclocking, thus OCTeamDenmark was born in early 2007. Since its birth OCTeamDenmark has lost many of its old members and is no longer the leading Danish page on overclocking.
