Indilinx Barefoot vs. Samsung:

120GB OCZ Vertex SSD

Nyheder, Reviews on January 23rd, 2010 No Comments

Make no mistake – as was seen in our measurements, an OCZ Vertex is ridiculously fast. In certain benchmarks even the drive speeds indicated by the manufacturer are exceeded. How can we not love that?

At time of writing this review, a 120 GB OCZ Vertex will set your back around 2800 DKK and is still a relatively expensive acquaintance. Fortunately, the folks behind OCZ have conjured both a fairly comprehensive support forum and thorough technical support for buyers. Firmware upgrades are frequently published for their Solid State Disks, continuously guaranteeing you the best performance – for example the “Wiper” tool, which appeared before TRIM was firmware supported. Even now OCZ is also developing a firmware update program that does not erase stored data.

A fun feature of the Vertex is also the drive’s longevity; MTBF (Mean Time Before Fail) is 50% higher than its competitor in this test, the Patriot Torqx M28, which is good for 1 million hours. Actually, we have only praise for OCZ Vertex and find it rather advisable for users who want a powerful Solid State Disk. Sadly it decreases our verdict that a Vertex only has a two year warranty and are not supplied with a hard drive frame. The question remains whether or not Intel’s new X25 drives can outperform the OCZ vertex. We’ll see.”
